Electric Baseboard Heaters
An electric baseboard heater is an individual unit which heats a house room-by-room. This tupe of heaters requires no expensive duct work and no central heating. These heaters are less efficient than the majority of central heating systems, but they use principles of air flow and radiation to work better than the majority of other space heating units.
Electric baseboard heaters look like hydronic baseboard heaters, however, they use electric heating coils for non motorized convection heating. Baseboard heaters don’t have room and they are not proportioned for effective motorized cooling, so they let the environment to take care of moving the hot air out of the way.
Cool air is drawn into the bottom slots and warmed by the heating fins and coils by using convection. After that the warm air exits from the top slots of the unit. These units are generally placed beneath windows to counter heat loss through the glass.
In order to control the baseboard heater a remote line voltage thermostat may be used. It may also come with an integrated thermostat control. It’s very important to keep the unit unobstructed by furniture and clear of drapes for best performance.

Hot Water Baseboard Heaters
Hot water baseboard heaters, which are also called hydronic baseboard heaters, channel hot water through pipes to individual baseboard heating units to heat rooms and use cantral heating at the same time. These baseboard heaters are undoubtedly an efficient heat source. Actually, they tend to be more efficient than other central heating systems. This type of heaters is perfectly used with radiant flooring, which has the heating pipes run under the floor of the house. Flooring in a large amount of house, however, makes this installation quite impractical. Hot water baseboard heaters are a very efficient alternative for hydronic heating and they won’t cause the initial installation to skyrocket.
A boiler heats water and sends it through pipes from heater to heater with hot water heating. Every heater takes some amount of heat from the water and sends it on to the next heater. This means, with a low end installation, Â that the units which are further away from the boiler get less heat. Generally, installing flow control valves is going to stabilize the heat in each room by forcing the earlier units to use less water, and preserve heat for later in the system. These units are also adjusted so that the smaller rooms receive less heat than larger rooms. You should talk to a contractor about the safety features and the possibility of their disrepair or failure.
