Hot Dawg Garage Heaters

Hot Dawg is a low-profile gas-fired unit heater that is designed to heat your work space. It is certified for residential, commercial, and industrial use.
The Hot Dawg was designed to provide heat to places where it normally wasn’t found, particularly garages and woodworking shops. With a Hot Dawg installed in your garage, you can now work in a safe, heated environment.
The Hot Dawg draws air from within the space being heated (power exhausted, HD model) or from fresh, outside air (separated combustion, HDS model).
If you want to purchase a Hot Dawg heater, then you should choose the separated combustion model rather than the power exhausted unit. There are several reasons for that. The separated combustion unit requires less maintenance in dusty environments, improves seasonal efficiency, provides greater durability in hostile applications, and has external thermostat and gas connections. This unit is especially popular in woodworking shops where wood particles float throughout the air.
Hot Dawg unit heaters work with a standard or programmable thermostat similar to the one you would find in your home.
The Hot Dawg can operate on either natural or propane gas. The gas type must be specified when ordering. The Hot Dawg has a ½” gas connection.
If we talk about the size of Hot Dawg that is needed to heat your work space, it depends on many variables such as building material, size, insulation, etc. As a general guideline you can use the following table, but you may wish to have a qualified contractor perform a heat-loss calculation.

Recommended supply voltage is 115 volt, 60 hertz, single phase. As for the installation of the Hot Dawg, you should consider several options first. The unit requires gas, vent, and electrical connections. For this reason, it is recommended that the unit be installed by a qualified installation and service contractor.

Hot Dawg should be vented to the outside of the garage. It is supplied with a factory-installed venting system that allows for either vertical venting through the roof or horizontal venting through a side wall. Vent pipe must be purchased separately. The unit utilizes either 3″,4″ or 5″ vent pipe depending upon the application and unit type.

The Hot Dawg includes angled hanging brackets designed for 3/8″ bolts, lag screws, or rods. This allows for snug-to-ceiling installation with 1″ clearance, or the unit can be suspended with threaded rods.
