Flammability
Natural gas is widely known for being very safe and inflammable. Gas is lighter than air, so in most cases the gas will rise into the atmosphere instead of mixing with oxygen, reducing chances of a flammable mixture. However, it is possible for gas to be trapped in an enclosed space, such as a garage. Natural gas burns at a temperatures of 1100 degrees Fahrenheit or greater.  Any heat source over 900 degrees Fahrenheit is a potential hazard.

Inspection
Natural gas utilities should be inspected by a certified professional at least once to ensure a safe setup. It is recommended to have periodic inspections at least once a year.
